CRIME NEWS

  • William Hines, one of seven defendants in the Preston Lord case, pled guilty and will be sentenced soon.  12 News
  • Katrina Woods, 33, of Maricopa, is accused of fraud for filing a $23,441 disaster relief claim by listing a false Altadena, California address and staying at hotels in Los Angeles and Hawthorne—FEMA stopped her Los Angeles reservation on March 10 and she was arrested in Arizona on April 23.  The Arizona Republic

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Today, Gov. Hobbs signed House Bill 2945 to secure emergency funding for the Division of Developmental Disabilities — which serves nearly 60,000 people — and limit paid caregiving hours to 40 for families. The bill passed the House by a 48-11-1 vote and the Senate by a 28-1-1 vote, ending a signing moratorium.  12 News
  • Gov. Hobbs warns that proposed Medicaid cuts could severely impact Arizonans who rely on the program—he stressed that careful review by lawmakers is needed to avoid negative health outcomes.  12 News
  • Maricopa County officials will meet with the governor’s office, state lawmakers and team representatives this week to discuss a bill that would fund improvements at Chase Field and create a unified sports authority for Arizona’s major stadiums. The proposal—modeled on the system used by the Arizona Cardinals—aims to secure a new lease for the Diamondbacks while modernizing the state’s sports infrastructure.  The Arizona Republic

  • Former Cardinals star Patrick Peterson said during an April 29 interview on the Up — Adams show that he had no relationship with quarterback Kyler Murray despite their shared past, and he noted his earlier remarks came from frustration.
