- ➤ Lucy, a 12-year-old who visited the petting zoo at the state fair last fall, became ill from E. coli and faced kidney complications that led to dialysis and blood transfusions during an 18-day hospital stay. Maricopa County public health officials confirmed that after two incubation periods no further cases emerged. KJZZ
- ➤ A newlywed in Maricopa learned she had cancer while expecting her first child, and her health care team is now reviewing treatment options to support her during pregnancy. 12 News

- ➤ On Dec. 4, National Cookie Day brought special cookie promotions to local Maricopa stores as businesses like Chewk's Cookies & Corner Bakery offered free cookies and chains such as Dunkin’ and Dairy Queen provided bonus rewards and discounts, giving customers a sweet reason to celebrate the holiday.
