BUSINESS NEWS

  • Ace Hardware is offering a wide selection of grills, smokers and accessories to help local hosts plan their Thanksgiving dinner on Nov. 27 — the store also has special rewards and discount events planned for Black Friday and the holiday weekend.  The Arizona Republic
  • Circle K announced Friday that next week Inner Circle members will receive a 40-cent gas discount per gallon (Thursday, Nov. 20) and non-members can enroll before the day to access the promotion at participating locations.  KTAR
  • SpaceX is set to launch its Falcon 9 rocket today from Vandenberg Space Force Base to send the Sentinel-6B satellite into orbit—Arizona residents may see the rocket pass overhead as it flies southeast.  The Arizona Republic
  • Mantiqueira USA—joint venture between the Pinto Family and JBS N.V.—purchased Hickman's Egg Ranch and will complete the deal by the end of the year, ending over 80 years of family ownership in Arizona.  The Arizona Republic

CULTURE NEWS

  • Desert Farm Lights returns next week in Surprise — at the intersection of Reems and Hatcher roads — with over one million twinkling lights, a Candy Cane Maze, and Igloo Experiences for families. The event runs from Nov. 21 to Dec. 28 and also features rides, ice skating, and food available for extra cost.  KTAR

LIFESTYLE NEWS

  • Maricopa residents can watch the Leonid meteor shower peak tonight as it brightens the eastern sky near Leo the Lion. The shower, active from Nov. 6 to Nov. 30, is expected to display about 10 to 15 meteors per hour under dark skies — the waning crescent moon at 9% full will not block the view.  The Arizona Republic

SPORTS NEWS

  • The Valley Suns lost 107—104 on Nov. 14 at Mullett Arena after giving up a lead of 22 points against the Rip City Remix. Suns’ top rookies Rasheer Fleming, who scored 23 points and grabbed 11 rebounds, and Khaman Maluach played key roles in the game while coach Paul Jesperson expects them to grow quickly.  The Arizona Republic
  • Valley 13-year-old Kelly Goodnow became a pickleball world champion after rallying from a 2-8 deficit in the singles final at the Carvana PPA World Championships in Dallas — her win points to a potential future as one of the youngest professional athletes as she prepares to play her first pro qualifier event. She trains at home and has already earned national medals and major sponsorships.  12 News
