EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ ASU Barrett students traveled to Mexico City in March to study homelessness and help improve safety for people during the FIFA World Cup 2026—that effort involved interviews with local groups and FIFA officials and led to an action plan now under review, which will be published in December. - ➤ The Arizona State Board of Education reported that most public schools earned A or B grades in the preliminary 2024-25 assessments while 13 schools—double last year’s count—received an F. Several districts in Maricopa saw changes in overall ratings, and affected schools can appeal the grades until November 17. The Arizona Republic
- ➤ Voters in Maricopa County cast ballots yesterday on funding measures from 21 school districts that included bond approvals and budget overrides—these measures ask for funds for new facilities, technology, and daily operations while local leaders and residents shared mixed views on spending and tax increases.
