GOVERNMENT NEWS

➤ Arizona officials replaced Silver Alerts with SAFE Alerts on Sept. 26 after Gov. Hobbs signed a new law that broadens the alert to include vulnerable people with cognitive disabilities—this system now covers missing seniors, those with developmental disabilities, and individuals with dementia. Law enforcement agencies will train twice a year and issue alerts through nonwireless channels—cell phones are not used. The Arizona Republic
