ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Today the USDA is asking for public comments until Sept. 19 on repealing the Roadless Rule that limits new roads on nearly 45 million acres, including over 1 million in Arizona—officials say the change will spur economic growth while environmental groups worry it may raise wildfire risks. Arizona lawmakers like Sen. Gallego are urging a legislative fix to keep these forest protections in place.  The Arizona Republic
  • AccuWeather predicts that northern Arizona will soon have bright fall foliage as warm days and steady rain set the perfect conditions.   • The Arizona Diamondbacks, with a record of 73 to 74 and trailing the Mets by 3 1/2 games, face a key weekend series against the struggling Twins as starters Pablo Lopez and Joe Ryan are set to pitch.
