  • Arizona inmate David Cramer used forged court documents to trigger an early release from a sentence set to end in 2047—officials re-arrested him on Aug. 20 after a Superior Court judge ruled the documents fraudulent.  KJZZ

  • Hazel Chandler, a Maricopa climate activist, has fought for clean air since the 1960s and testified against harmful policies as she now faces terminal cancer. Her work earned her 'Hazel Chandler Day' on Sept. 1 — an honor that marks her lifetime of service to our environment.  The Arizona Republic

SPORTS NEWS

  • On Sept 7, the Cardinals beat the Saints 20—13 in New Orleans as the game came down to the final play. The win gave the Cardinals a 1—0 record and showed that the team managed to secure a close victory despite some errors.  The Arizona Republic
  • The Diamondbacks reinstated right-hander Anthony DeSclafani from the 15-day injured list—he had missed time with a thumb issue—and moved him to long relief after their three-game series against the Red Sox at Chase Field, while optioning right-hander Bryce Jarvis to Triple-A Reno after his ineffective outing.  The Arizona Republic
  • The Arizona Cardinals beat the New Orleans Saints 20-13 on Sept 7 in a season-opening road game where Kyler Murray threw two touchdown passes and rookie Will Johnson made a strong defensive debut. Trey Benson’s 52-yard run set up a key field goal—coach Jonathan Gannon said the team must work on playing full 60 minutes of defense.  The Arizona Republic
