- ➤ June Shaver, a 17-year-old from Dysart High School in El Mirage, collapsed from heat stroke while walking home and suffered severe burns from the hot asphalt—paramedics recorded her temperature at 107°F, she underwent five surgeries during a 29‑day hospital stay, and she returned home on August 30 with a recovery expected to last about 18 months. ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ On Sept 7, a total lunar eclipse will begin at 9:27 a.m. local time and reach maximum at 11:11 a.m. while lasting 5 hours and 27 minutes with 1 hour and 22 minutes of totality.
