CRIME NEWS

  • A Mexican man was sentenced to 63 months in prison followed by 36 months of supervised release on Tuesday for assaulting a border patrol agent—he pushed her to the ground and punched her in the head and face near Bisbee after illegally entering the country.  KTAR
  • A man was sentenced in Goodyear for causing a bicycle crash—killing two and injuring 17—in an incident that the court described as emotional.  12 News

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Department of Child Safety announced improvements to Arizona's child welfare system after a stakeholder meeting where families, law enforcement, and Tribal leaders reported gaps in communication and oversight — the agency said it would strengthen its partnerships and renew Tribal engagement.  KTAR
  • Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker warned the migrant community to avoid Mexican Independence celebrations amid concerns of ICE raids, while the Mexican consulate in Phoenix said the event on September 15 will be safe—with local police set to secure the area. The consulate has confirmed ongoing coordination with ICE and local officials to ensure the celebration remains peaceful.  The Arizona Republic
