  • Lainey Wilson launched the 2025 Whirlwind World Tour on Aug. 14 at PHX Arena downtown Phoenix—she sang hit songs like '4x4xU' and 'Watermelon Moonshine.'   • Beef prices remain at record highs due to a long cattle cycle, the 2022 drought that raised feed costs, and new tariffs that drive up import costs—USDA data shows ground beef passed $6 per pound in June 2024 with prices rising by 10.6%, and experts predict that prices will climb 5—12% through 2025.   • Michael, a 38-year-old Bornean orangutan at the Phoenix Zoo, is recovering today after his second surgery to remove a rare cancer that affects his sweat glands. The doctors removed extra tissue and nearby lymph nodes — and will test them soon to see if the cancer spread.  KTAR

SPORTS NEWS

  • Today, the Arizona Cardinals face the Denver Broncos at Empower Field at Mile High at 6:30 p.m. to check which players can earn playing time in key positions—cornerback, running back, and offensive line—before their final preseason game in Glendale as coaches work through roster decisions.  The Arizona Republic
