➤ Avondale fire crews responded to a home in Goodyear near Palo Verde Drive and Van Buren Street on Sunday afternoon and pulled a 1-year-old boy from a backyard pool in West Valley—he was taken to a hospital but later died. 12 News

SPORTS NEWS

➤ On Aug 10, the Diamondbacks beat the Rockies at Chase Field after scoring eight runs in the bottom of the fifth to lead 12—3 with key hits from Del Castillo and Marte. Manager Torey Lovullo said Gabriel Moreno, Pavin Smith and Ildemaro Vargas will begin rehab assignments on Aug 12 and will likely remain out during the upcoming road trip. The Arizona Republic
