- ➤ Corey Dion Beckhum was sentenced to 3 1/2 years in prison last Friday for brokering Medicaid patients to behavioral health clinics after he agreed to send patients from his unlicensed sober living homes to an AHCCCS-funded clinic for payment—investigators said 18 patients were involved and later moved to licensed facilities. - ➤ Carlos Tercero Cruz was sentenced to life in prison — plus an extra 57 years — for first-degree murder, child abuse and kidnapping after his 3-year-old daughter died in 2015 from starvation, dehydration and blunt-force injuries, with authorities noting she weighed only 16 pounds at her death. 12 News
- ➤ MCSO deputies fatally shot a man in Mesa on Sunday night after he advanced toward officers—armed with a knife—at an apartment complex near Broadway and Crismon roads. KTAR
