- ➤ Adam Sheafe, extradited to Maricopa County from Coconino County, is indicted for murdering New River pastor William Schonemann and will be arraigned Friday—prosecutors say he planned to kill 14 Christian leaders. KJZZ
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Gov. Katie Hobbs will travel to Washington D.C. to speak with U.S. forest leaders — asking for support as Arizona wildfires continue to burn — to secure help for wildfire control. 12 News
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ The Consumer Product Safety Commission announced that about 5 million above-ground pools sold under Bestway, Coleman, Intex, and Polygroup since 2002 have been recalled after nine young children drowned when faulty compression straps allowed access — owners should call the manufacturers for free repair kits. The Arizona Republic
- ➤ On July 21, Maricopa County health officials said an older adult with underlying health problems died from West Nile virus, marking the first death this season as 17 cases have been confirmed. Dr. Nick Staab urged residents to use mosquito repellent and remove standing water because mosquitoes spread the virus during its peak season — May through October. The Arizona Republic
