- ➤ TV journalist Craig McKee is returning to Phoenix as he joins ABC 15 after beginning his career at 12 News; he will debut on-air Monday, July 21—at 3 p.m., 4 p.m. and 9 p.m.—and looks forward to reconnecting with the community and being closer to family. The Arizona Republic
ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ A Sun City woman died in her home after her power was shut off, and officials said the heat contributed to her death—regulators found no violations in the utility’s actions. 12 News
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Regulators found that the Thin Blue Line Benefits Association—an organization offering healthcare coverage to retired firefighters and officers—is operating illegally in Arizona and must stop its operations immediately. 12 News
- ➤ On Thursday, Thomas Galvin, chairman of the County Board, said federal oversight of the sheriff’s office is a waste that has cost about $352 million over the past 15 years—he said it ties officers up in paperwork instead of allowing them to patrol. Galvin noted that the oversight monitor earns $2 million a year and promised to speak on behalf of residents who want the sheriff’s office to fully do its job. KTAR

- ➤ The Diamondbacks have struggled with pitching injuries this season and will look to trade at the upcoming deadline to add fresh pitching talent for 2026.
