  • The U.S. Forest Service released the final environmental impact statement for the Resolution Copper mine at Oak Flat east of Phoenix, starting the 60-day countdown after the document is posted on June 20 for transferring 2,400 acres. Indigenous groups oppose the move because the sacred land and unique habitats face potential harm while legal reviews continue ahead of the scheduled land transfer on August 19 — a decision that may also bring job creation and tax benefits.  The Arizona Republic
