  • A Phoenix man, Justice Patterson, 28, was arrested after he tried to mix bleach with rust cleaner in an oven heated to 400 degrees to cause an explosion in a home with five roommates inside—he told officers voices ordered him to act and he now faces charges for attempted aggravated assault and serious physical injury.  The Arizona Republic

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Arizona Attorney General Kris Mayes joined a multistate lawsuit on Tuesday to stop 23andMe from auctioning the genetic data of about 15 million customers—saying the company is selling sensitive information without consent after filing for bankruptcy and that the suit aims to halt further misuse.  KTAR
  • Maricopa County detention officers received a new bonus program approved by the Board of Supervisors yesterday—bonuses range from $1,500 for less experienced staff to $10,000 for those with 20 or more years of service, with further payouts scheduled for 2026 through 2028 and a total cost of about $30 million over four years. Officers must remain employed for one year after each payment as part of the plan, which aims to improve retention amid a staffing shortage.  KTAR
