- ➤ Michaels announced on June 5 that it acquired Joann’s intellectual property and private label brands after Joann closed its stores due to bankruptcy, and the company will add over 600 new fabric, sewing and yarn products later this year. The expansion will boost offerings in its 28 local stores—bringing familiar brands and tools to Arizona shoppers. The Arizona Republic
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Officials said negotiators from seven river states resumed talks for a shortage-sharing deal for the Colorado River — a key water source that provides 36% of Arizona’s supply — after months of deadlock. Federal and state teams are exploring options that may change century-old water laws to address unsustainable water use and looming shortages. The Arizona Republic
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ The CDC said eggs sold in Arizona and eight other states are being recalled after a salmonella outbreak caused 79 illnesses and 21 hospitalizations in seven states + about 1.7 million brown cage-free and certified organic eggs with sell-by dates from March 4 to June 19 have been affected. The agency advises throwing the eggs away or returning them to the store and cleaning any surfaces that came in contact with the products. 12 News
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ Arizona Diamondbacks pitcher Corbin Burnes is injured and will have Tommy John surgery next week, ending his season early in the first year of his $210 million contract. Manager Torey Lovullo said many weighed in on the decision and that left-hander Ryne Nelson will take on a regular starting role while Tommy Henry was called up. 12 News
