- ➤ Aurelia Bullis, a San Carlos Apache language teacher from Fort Thomas, got a film opportunity when her sister connected her with Kevin Costner’s crew to translate actors’ lines into Apache. She met Costner on set in Utah — helped the cast via Zoom—and now continues to teach Apache to local students and her family. The Arizona Republic
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Arizona law requires a special cleaner-burning gasoline blend in metro Phoenix to control ozone and pollution by adding oxygenates that help fuel burn completely. The blend raises pump prices by between 5 and 15 cents per gallon and is estimated to lower smog by 15%—though some critics say that investing more in transit and electric vehicles may offer greater benefits. - ➤ On June 1, the Diamondbacks moved right-handed pitcher Cristian Mena from Triple-A Reno to the bullpen and optioned Scott McGough after his ineffective outing.
