- ➤ A Buckeye man walking his dog in Verrado near Skyline Regional Park was attacked by a mountain lion at 10 p.m. on May 25 — he kicked the animal off his dog before shooting it in self-defense, and his dog was not injured, officials said. The Arizona Republic
