- ➤ Governor Hobbs signed Emily's Law to create Turquoise Alerts for missing Indigenous people, with Emily Pike's family present at the Capitol on May 21st. - ➤ On Monday, the Maricopa County Board approved a tentative $3.9 billion budget for 2026 that lowers the property tax rate and funds upgrades such as a new animal shelter, county library, and improved sheriff compensation—officials noted that the plan also supports a state-of-the-art election center slated to open in 2027—measures designed to enhance public safety and services. - ➤ Maricopa County Board of Supervisors unanimously approved a tentative $3.9 billion budget for 2026 on Monday that cuts the property tax rate by 0.37% and funds projects like a new West Valley animal shelter, a library in Anthem, and additional sheriff substations.
