GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Maricopa County supervisors approved ballot drop box sites despite a warning from County Recorder Justin Heap’s attorney that volunteers using unauthorized boxes could face felony charges & risk criminal liability as early voting nears. Officials plan to coordinate with Heap to ensure the election runs smoothly.  12 News
  • The Transportation Security Administration announced TSA Gold+ as a new public-private partnership that lets private companies manage screening technology to offer faster security at local airports including Phoenix Sky Harbor. Travelers may see improved airport efficiency soon as launch dates are set.  The Arizona Republic

HEALTH NEWS

  • Emma Jade speaks with a skincare expert about how local residents can protect their skin in the summer months; the expert offers practical tips (such as using sunscreen and wearing protective clothing) to maintain healthy skin.  12 News
  • During the week of April 27, Maricopa County health inspectors visited 1,270 restaurants in metro Phoenix and cited four locations for 18 food safety violations, including moldy chili and undercooked chicken. The restaurants corrected issues by discarding spoiled items (and improving storage practices) to ensure safety.  The Arizona Republic
