- ➤ After 20 years with one IKEA in the Valley, the company announced plans to open a new smaller-format store in Phoenix at Village Square II on Cactus Road and Tatum Boulevard on May 7 when it also opened a refreshed concept store in Scottsdale—this Phoenix location will open early next year and offer about 23,000 items along with a Swedish Deli concept serving meatballs, plant balls and cinnamon buns. - ➤ The Maricopa County Sheriff's Office said a body of an adult was found Saturday morning in the 9500 East block of Cherrywood near Chandler Heights — Alma School roads in Sun Lakes and they are treating the case as suspicious. 12 News

- ➤ On May 10, Halsey launched her For My Last Trick Tour in Concord with a setlist that featured hits like 'Bad at Love' + 'Without Me' in support of her 2024 album The Great Impersonator, which reached No.2 on Billboard; the tour will continue at Talking Stick Resort Amphitheatre in Phoenix on May 12. - ➤ The Weeknd launched his After Hours Til Dawn Tour 2025 at State Farm Stadium in Glendale on May 9—delivering a hit-packed performance with Playboi Carti and Mike Dean. He will take the tour to Detroit and other cities later this month—continuing support for his new album Hurry Up Tomorrow. The Arizona Republic
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Arizona Department of Transportation will add flex lanes on I-17 from Black Canyon City to Sunset Point to ease heavy traffic. The 8‑mile lanes will open by the end of 2025 and use electronic signs and swing gates—designed to switch travel directions—to show drivers how to navigate safely. The Arizona Republic
- ➤ Tonto National Forest announced that starting Monday, May 12, State Route 88 from Roosevelt Dam to Apache Lake Marina will close intermittently for repairs over the next five weeks—chip sealing and resurfacing work will last up to 72 hours per week and block access to facilities like Burnt Corral while keeping Roosevelt Dam open. 12 News
