  • ➤ Maricopa residents can take advantage of many Mother's Day deals today at local restaurants including Krispy Kreme — featuring a mini doughnut collection, First Watch offering free entrée coupons, and Dunkin' with bonus points promotions. The deals run May 7-10.  The Arizona Republic

SPORTS NEWS

  • ➤ After his Friday session at Salt River Fields, Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo said Justin Martinez threw an electric fastball in the mid-90s but must complete 15 sessions before a minor-league rehab assignment. First baseman Carlos Santana will play for Triple-A Reno this weekend, and Lawlar gets imaging next week.  The Arizona Republic
  • ➤ The Phoenix Mercury opened their season on May 9 with a 99+66 win over the Las Vegas Aces as Alyssa Thomas scored 20 points. The team will face the Golden State Valkyries today at 5:30 p.m. before hosting the Minnesota Lynx on Tuesday at Mortgage Matchup Center.  The Arizona Republic
