- ➤ Maricopa County Sheriff's Office said a 21-year-old man from Phoenix drowned at Bartlett Lake on May 3 when he lost his footing near SB Cove while with friends—divers entered the water at 8:30 p.m. but his body has not been recovered. The Arizona Republic
BUSINESS NEWS
- ➤ Amazon plans to hire hundreds of hourly workers in Arizona over the coming months to meet a busy summer season, offering a starting wage of $22 per hour with health care benefits and job training. The company recently opened three large facilities in the West Valley—these sites could add up to 3,600 new roles to support order fulfillment. The Arizona Republic

- ➤ Raquel Marie Morales, 23, whose remains were found in a Surprise landfill on April 17, struggled with mental health issues—she had fled with a man who abandoned her after years of abuse at home and bullying at school, and police are treating her death as suspicious while reviewing her family’s troubled history including her father’s recent prison sentence. - ➤ Rhonda Bannard, a longtime nonprofit leader, launched Earth Gives in 2022 as a platform to help donors support targeted climate solutions and is preparing for a main giving window starting Sep. 5 with Earth Gives Day on Oct. 7 and nonprofit registration open through Aug. 22.
