  • Gov. Hobbs signed two school bills—one limiting cell phone use in classrooms and one banning ultra-processed school lunches—to change current school policies.  12 News
  • The Arizona Corporation Commission is reviewing energy use by data centers to ensure residents always have power — the review is expected to help guide future energy policies.  12 News

HEALTH NEWS

  • Phoenix mom Shannon Jacobo beat stage 4 colon cancer after receiving HAI therapy— a new treatment delivering high doses of chemotherapy directly to the liver— from Dr. Rajesh Ramanathan following her June 2022 colonoscopy and multiple surgeries. Now cancer-free, she works as a nutrition consultant to help others learn the importance of early cancer checks.  12 News

SPORTS NEWS

  • ASU wide receiver Derek Eusebio ended his walk-on status when a 64‐yard touchdown against Arizona earned him a scholarship and he is ready to play a larger role on the team this season—coaches praise his hard work and improvement—after years of effort since his high school days.  The Arizona Republic
  • Former NFL cornerback Patrick Peterson announced his retirement from the Cardinals on April 14 at the Tempe training facility—he wanted to finish his career at home—and said he will explore a future in sports broadcasting and possibly work with the team while enjoying time with family and friends. He closed a 13-year career with no regrets and plans new steps in the sport he still loves.  The Arizona Republic
