- ➤ The Haven is a new CASS shelter in the Valley that helps senior citizens experiencing homelessness — it offers safe shelter and vital support services to older residents in need. 12 News
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Former UFC champion Henry Cejudo's Phoenix home was burglarized on April 8 when burglars stole his championship belt and over $10,000 in podcast equipment—this happened days after he stopped an impaired driver near his home and police are investigating the case. The Arizona Republic
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Starting May 12, Avelo Airlines will run charter deportation flights from Phoenix-Mesa Gateway under a DHS contract — the low-cost carrier is hiring flight attendants and will use three Boeing 737—800 jets to transport detained individuals. The Arizona Republic
- ➤ Maricopa County Parks and Recreation Department will begin its annual fire ban on May 1 in all regional parks. The ban stops campfires, fire pits, charcoal grills and smoking, although gas and propane grills remain allowed in designated areas—officials will monitor weather conditions and may extend the ban if needed. - ➤ Maricopa County residents are invited to join the second round of outreach meetings for the Framework 2040 Comprehensive Plan—meant to help guide the county's future decisions. Officials say the meetings will allow community voices to shape upcoming plans. Maricopa County
