- ➤ Starting May 12, Avelo Airlines will run charter deportation flights from Phoenix-Mesa Gateway under a DHS contract — the low-cost carrier is hiring flight attendants and will use three Boeing 737—800 jets to transport detained individuals. The Arizona Republic
- ➤ Maricopa County Parks and Recreation Department will begin its annual fire ban on May 1 in all regional parks. The ban stops campfires, fire pits, charcoal grills and smoking, although gas and propane grills remain allowed in designated areas—officials will monitor weather conditions and may extend the ban if needed.
