- ➤ Passion Schurz, a 28-year-old member of the Salt River-Pima Maricopa Indian Community, was found dead in a Scottsdale canal on March 28 and investigators reported no signs of injury while her family is fundraising for funeral expenses and support for her two children. The Arizona Republic
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ A report from the Grand Canyon Institute warned on Arizona Public Lands Day that state control of federal lands would cost $800 million a year in lost funds and higher wildfire suppression costs, affecting outdoor recreation and rural revenue. The Arizona Republic
- ➤ A governor-appointed task force recommended eliminating tax incentives for data centers and shifting grid costs to major energy users to help meet rising demand, with the report suggesting a 40% increase over the next 15 years. The nonbinding proposal submitted to Gov. Hobbs faced dissent from Google and Microsoft. KTAR
