- ➤ Air France’s Phoenix to Paris long-haul flight was named the sexiest new route by Cranky Flier after beating four other contenders. The flight began in May 2024 with 7,249 passengers last year and will expand in May to five days a week & offer connections to key global destinations. The Arizona Republic
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Jury selection is underway in Arizona for Lori Vallow Daybell’s trial for conspiring to kill her former husband Charles Vallow, as she pleaded not guilty and will represent herself while legal motions were denied and testimony is expected to last four to six weeks—she remains at Estrella Jail. 12 News
- ➤ On March 26, Mesa police arrested Cruzita Leon near 35th Avenue and Van Buren Street under a new law that imposes harsher penalties for selling fentanyl when death results—investigators say 49-year-old Todd Gordon overdosed in December after he arranged a purchase via text messages—and Leon faces multiple felony charges including sale of lethal fentanyl and manslaughter while being held on a $500,000 bond. - ➤ After Friday, April 4 drawing, the Arizona Lottery will update Mega Millions by raising ticket prices to $5—boosting jackpots, improving odds, and adding a built-in multiplier for every play. ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Biologists from the Arizona Game and Fish Department rappelled down a Lake Pleasant cliffside to check the health of three bald eagle nestlings and put leg bands on them—these bands will track the birds as conservation experts work to protect the local desert nesting population. - ➤ Arizona is at heightened wildfire risk through June because a dry winter and ongoing drought have created dangerous fire conditions — fire officials say residents should stay alert until monsoon rains begin in late June — reinforcing the need for caution now. 12 News
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Scottsdale Police Department is teaming up with local law agencies to form a DUI task force for Arizona Bike Week at Westworld of Scottsdale near the Loop-101 freeway & Frank Lloyd Wright Boulevard, where officers will patrol from 5 p.m. to 3 a.m. nightly and offer a Know Your Limit breath test station at the entrance. - ➤ Starting May 7, flyers will need a Real ID-compliant form of identification such as the Arizona Travel ID—costing $25—to pass airport security. Arizonans can apply online but must complete the process in person and may still use approved alternatives like a passport or military ID. The Arizona Republic

- ➤ Calais Campbell will sign a one-year deal with the Cardinals, as reported by ESPN Insider Adam Schefter on April 1. The 38-year-old played all 17 games for the Dolphins last season—and he will return to boost the revamped defense in his 18th NFL season in Arizona. 12 News
