- ➤ Community Comadres—a nonprofit in the Valley del Sol—will hold its second annual Quinceanera Scholarship event to give three teen girls a special party and a $5,000 scholarship each. - ➤ Twenty-eight finalists from over half a million students competed in the annual Arizona Spelling Bee at the Madison Center for the Arts in Phoenix, facing over 20 rounds in a six-hour contest—seventh grader Esha Marupudi from BASIS Chandler won and will represent Arizona at the centennial Scripps National Spelling Bee in May.
