  • The Sex Pistols featuring Frank Carter will perform in Phoenix this fall as part of their tour celebrating 50 years of punk rock without Johnny Rotten. Tickets go on sale Friday, March 6 at 10 a.m. local time for the show.  The Arizona Republic
  • The Arizona State Fair will open on Oct. 1 at the Fairgrounds with its 2026 theme—A State of Wonder—that offers new rides, early‑bird deals, and funnel cakes. Organizers have launched an official app and teased an announcement on March 19.  KTAR

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Maricopa residents may notice Arizona's largest snake—the nonvenomous gopher snake—which can grow up to 9 feet and is often seen in desert and urban areas. Experts explain its hissing is a warning (it is harmless if left undisturbed).  The Arizona Republic
  • Scientists studying Arizona say the 32-year drought may shift into a permanent dry spell as rising heat causes faster evaporation. Water managers plan to save water and adjust practices so that less runoff reaches local rivers.  The Arizona Republic

  • Travel experts warn that while six Mexican states are under high travel caution, many Arizonans still travel to Puerto Peñasco (Rocky Point) where local business reports a safe atmosphere today; visitors should check advisories and plan journeys during daylight hours.  The Arizona Republic

  • The Arizona Cardinals reportedly are eyeing free agent QB Jimmy Garoppolo as a potential starter if Kyler Murray departs. NFL insider Jeremy Fowler noted that coach Mike LaFleur favors Garoppolo + his experience as a Rams backup, hinting a roster change for the upcoming season.  The Arizona Republic
  • Merrill Kelly said he turned down a three-year Padres offer because California taxes cut into his earnings and signed a two-year, $40 million contract with the Diamondbacks. He noted lower Arizona taxes and his strong ties to the state made his return a clear choice.  The Arizona Republic
