- ➤ The 15th annual Arizona Balloon Classic returns to Wild Horse Pass Festival Grounds — held in the Gila River Indian Community — starting Friday with hot air balloon races, family entertainment and food. - ➤ ADOT announced that freeway work will impose lane narrowings and closures on Loop 202 (between Williams Field and Higley Roads) and on Loop 101 (between 19th and 31st Avenues) from Jan. 16 to Jan. 19 in Phoenix; drivers should plan extra travel time and use alternate routes. HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ ACA open enrollment ended on Thursday, Jan. 15 after enhanced tax credits expired, leading to a drop of over 70,000 enrollees and prompting some residents to downgrade their plans amid a 114% premium hike—pushing costs skyward. KJZZ
- ➤ Maricopa County confirmed its first measles case since 2024 on Jan. 15 when an adult who traveled overseas required hospitalization. Health officials are notifying those exposed and urging health-care providers to watch for fever and rash. The Arizona Republic
- ➤ Overdose deaths in Arizona rose nearly 16% from August 2024 to August 2025 as meth and fentanyl mixtures spiked while national rates dropped — Special Agent Polo Ruiz said efforts including the DEA's Fentanyl Free America campaign are underway to address rising fentanyl powder. KTAR
